Willing to travel for an event.
Willing to talk for nonprofit.
I’m Verena, Cloud & DevOps Consultant at b’nerd. After many years working as an HR expert & tech recruiter in IT, I discovered my passion for programming in 2020 - and switched carreers.
I’m especially passionate about infrastructure, DevOps & Kubernetes. Next to my consulting work, I regularly share my knowledge as a speaker at tech conferences and meetups - and I genuinely enjoy moderating events, guiding discussions, and helping others feel comfortable on stage.
Creating supportive and inclusive spaces in tech has been a recurring theme throughout my career and is also what led me to co-found reher*sal in 2023 - an initiative dedicated to empowering FLINTA* voices on tech stages.
The following references are examples. Additional talks and workshop formats are available on my website.

Admittedly, everyone working with Kubernetes has thought about it at some point: Building their own cluster with their own hardware. But let’s face it, most people stop at the thought, right?
Now, imagine mixing a career changer with a few months of Kubernetes know-how and three Raspberry Pis gifted for their birthday. What could possibly go wrong? (Spoiler: A lot ;))
In my talk, I’ll walk you through the ups and downs of my Raspberry Pi cluster adventure - from initial setup struggles over hacking my way through networking quirks to the sweet moment when „kubectl get nodes“ actually works (eventually).
If you’ve ever thought, “Hey, I should totally build my own cluster,” or if you’re just curious to see what happens when someone actually does, join me. You’ll probably laugh, maybe cry, and definitely learn something. :)

Tech conferences have come a long way, but they still don’t fully represent the diversity of the world we live in. In this talk, I’ll share practical steps that conference organizers, speakers (new and seasoned), and attendees can take to create inclusive events where everyone feels welcome. Let’s explore how we can amplify diverse voices, break down barriers, and shape the kind of tech spaces where everyone belongs.
