I am a doctoral researcher in Social Policy at the University of Strathclyde, with a project on Civil Society and Youth Participation at the School of Social Work and Social Policy and the School of Governance and Public Policy. Before that I completed my Master's degree in Intercultural European and American Studies at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg. Political, social and cultural issues of the Anglophone, Francophone and Spanish-speaking cultural areas were the focus of my master's degree. I completed my Bachelor's degree in European Administrative Management at the Harz University of Applied Sciences.
From 2014 to 2018, I volunteered with the Young European Federalists Germany (JEF). As a member of the national board of the non-partisan and pro-European youth association, including two years in a leading position as deputy chairperson, I was primarily responsible for the association's media and public relations work from 2014 to 2018 and organised European political education seminars for young people from Germany and all over Europe. The main focus of my work was the redesign of the association's website based on WordPress as well as the regular use of social media channels on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. As a press contact, I coordinated interview appointments, wrote press releases in cooperation with the executive board and managed the digital administration of our press work.
Between my Master's degree and my doctoral studies, I took over the full-time project management for the "Europa Machen” campaign of the Young European Federalists Germany (JEF) and the Union of European Federalists Germany (Europa-Union Deutschland e.V.) on the occasion of the 2019 European Elections. The campaign, which was supported by the "This time I vote" initiative of the European Parliament, included a series of events at schools (e.g. simulations of the European Parliament and workshop days around the elections), network meetings (“Europawerkstatt” in Berlin) as well as numerous online offers and materials on the European Elections and with information on democracy and civic participation in the EU.
