I work as a Senior Advisor in the student support department of the Hans Böckler Foundation in Düsseldorf, an organisation I have been working for since 2010. In addition, I teach social science methodology at the Institute of Political Science at the University of Duisburg-Essen. My previous work includes several research projects for parties and labour unions as well as positions as trainer and advisor in the area of quality assurance in higher education. I am trained in diversity oriented career coaching, peer coaching and in solution focused counseling, all with a special focus on students and young researchers.
I studied politics and history at the universities of Aachen, Prague and Potsdam between 2003-2010. In my PhD, I combined my interest in programming with my background in social science and my passion for the dynamics of political organisations. In 2017, I obtained my PhD with a work on “Young people in old politics” from the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Duisburg-Essen. During my PhD, I spent some time as a visiting fellow at the University of Oslo and the Institute for Social Research in Oslo. To summarise, I am strongly interested in the interplay between individuals and the dynamics of political mass member organisations, and especially in how to measure and analyse it based on rich qualitative and quantitative data.
