Prevention of the root causes of inequality and violence against women and girls through education - CSW59 Side Event

Gender equality cannot be achieved without addressing the root causes of inequality and violence against women and girls.

Focusing on progress to date in two of the 12 Critical Areas of Concern of the Beijing Platform for Action – “Violence Against Women” and “The Girl Child” – this event highlights Voices Against Violence, a non-formal education curriculum delivered by WAGGGS and supported by UN Women and Zonta International.

This program trains youth leaders and trainers to deliver the curriculum to young people, aged 5-25 years, to break gender stereotypes, identify and address root causes, and prevent violence against women and girls.
