C.V.: Born 18. October 1963 in Berlin (West)
1980 - 1987 various jobs as printer, bookseller, magazine editor.
1982-1984 apprenticeship learning the craft of a machine fitter (2 years).
1985 trained to teach German and English.
1986-1987 worked in alternative and gastronomic culture industry.
1988 – 1993 studies of economy, politics and political science at the „Hochschule für Wirtschaft und Politik Hamburg“; 1991 diploma/degree in sociology; 1993 diploma/degree in social economics.
International experience/studies abroad between 1980 and 1995:
USA (St. Louis, New York), England, France, Canada (Toronto), Australia (Sydney, Feminist Bookfair Melbourne 1994, Tasmania). Profound experience with US-English, GB English, Canadian, South African, Australian and New Zealand English.
Freelance editor and proofreader since 1987. Freelance translator (English-German) since 1988.
Since 1988 in publishing: first as editor and translator during my studies, after my diploma full-time managing editor, then programme manager for books of fiction at Argument Verlag, Hamburg. Publisher/editor of the prominent crime fiction imprint Ariadne.
Instructor/supervisor for German writers, translators and editors.
Avocational: Passionate reader, songwriter (mostly Lyrics, various musical projects), mother (son born 1997).
Speaker & lecturer on International Crime Fiction, German Crime Fiction, Feminist Crime Fiction, the Art of Writing, the Art of Translation, popular culture and politics, hardboiled and political noir fiction, cultural networking, independent publishing.
