Personal note:

I am much more comfortable speaking in Q&As, interviews, panels and round tables than presenting on my own. I am also very happy to appear on podcasts, on TV and in publications.

I have plenty of honest stories to tell, revolving around my lived experience as an autistic, for example:
- Art, creativity and self-expression as lifelines, surviving multiple trauma
- Chaotic freelancing career as an autistic with ADHD
- Building an art business accessible to the self (my journey)
- 8 years of "digital nomad" life (which at times have equated to homelessness)
- Barriers in society and business with Multiple Chemical Sensitivity, Autism, Dyspraxia, ADHD and Auditory Processing Delay
- Neurodiversity in life, neurodiversity art work
- Artivism, representation, intersectionality
- Growing up genderfluid / non-binary when the words didn't even exist
- Discrimination and unmasking as a queer autistic
- And more

Bio:

Coco (she/they) is a self taught visual artist and writer. As a child, she developed a passion for poetry and photography, and later for multimedia projects and visual arts (watercolor, mixed media, collage, digital).

Coco’s work is inspired by her lived experience. Her art and writings speak of mental health and inclusion, kindly holding space for all our emotions. She creates colorful pieces that resonate and create a connection with her audience, speaking out against ableism and stereotypical representations.

Coco is a white non-binary autistic with ADHD and dyscalculia. She was born in 1983 in a tiny Swiss village, from Italian parents. Her journey has been marked by violence and uprooting.

Coco is many things! She is also a digital product and brand designer with more than 20 years of experience in the industry. For the past last few years she's been working exclusively on data science projects for organizations with social and ecological impact. In her free time (and when there is energy left) she runs a friendship and support group for autistic and ADHD FLINTA*. She is also currently building a small, all-autistic art and performance collective and enjoys dancing on rollerskates or getting lost in the woods.

Impact Talk speaker - Neurodiversity, art & inclusion - Impact Hub Berlin

In a world in which autistic folks are amongst the most underrepresented, creating one own's business and leading it to success is extra complex. Yet for me and many others, it is one of the rare viable solutions.

I'll be sharing about my uncommon journey as a freelancer and entrepreneur. I will touch on many topics such as late autism identification, ableism (discrimination and prejudice against disabled folks), difficulties with work and accessibility, but also what led me to create Cocomoino, a neurodivergent affirming art & stationery brand.

Most of my life I've been hiding and trying to suppress my traits and my identity out of fear of discrimination and exclusion. Besides the fact that it didn't work very well, I missed out on a lot of opportunities or have been denied accessibility needs. Like for many others autistics, systemic discrimination, the autistic tax and general ignorance around this dynamic and variable disability has impacted my mental health and my ability to succeed professionally.

- If you're curious and like to learn from other's lived experiences
- If you feel like autistic folks deserve more representation, inclusion and opportunities
- ... and if you'd like to do something about it!
- If you're wondering what you should pay attention to when hiring, recruiting, hosting or offering support
- If you're autistic and want to hear from a peer's experience
Join us for a chatty lunch!

The Impact Talks are organized by Impact Hub Berlin.

* In 2021, the Office for National Statistics in the UK showed that only 22% of autistic adults were in any kind of employment.
