From the trashy and in part tacky productions of the 1980s and early 1990s to the slick, sophisticated embodiments of female robots in films of the recent past, the very core of the trope itself remains quite similar. The gendered body of what is, in essence, a gender-neutral, mechanical frame is occupied by a wide variety of assigned attributes concerning both the physicality as well as the underlying personality.
