Anna Groß

I am a linguist, musicologist, and cultural scientist (University of KwaZulu-Natal Durban / Humboldt University of Berlin) and have been working in political education and radicalization prevention since 2002 with a focus on youth cultures such as hip hop and skateboarding. My current areas of focus are dealing with conspiracy myths, (hetero) sexism in German rap, the history of rap music, anti-Semitism and hip hop, discrimination-critical and gender-reflective youth work, empowerment of womxn, gender and diversity in the music industry.
Together with Rainer Scheerer, I have been running the music label and music publishing company Springstoff in Berlin since 2011 and co-founded the association cultures interactive e.V. in 2005. In 2017, I wrote a collection of methods for political education in primary education for the Berlin State Agency for Civic Education, and in 2023, I co-edited the anthology “It's more than just rap - HipHop in youth work” with Marie Jäger. I develop methods of political education for various clients (Minor Projektkontor, Bundeszentrale für politische Bildung, etc.).
I give lectures & workshops both online and offline—in German and/or English—run workshops for young people, and lead training courses for teachers, musicians, event organizers, adults working in youth and social work, and other interested parties. I train political educators, develop and support political education teams, and assist with organizational development. I am also an IHK-certified trainer for event managers.
