I've been working on energy and climate for 20 years. My focus is on financing energy transition and climate actions, the evaluation of energy efficiency and climate mitigation policies, and the design of energy transition of energy systems and infrastructure at the regional/country/global level. I delivered projects and training for the European Commission, the United Nations Development Programme, ClimateWorks, Climate Policy Initiative, the World Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, some governments in Europe, America, and Asia, as well as other national and international organizations.

I hold a master and doctor of philosophy in environmental sciences and policy from Central European University (CEU) and a specialist in mathematical methods and models in economics from Novosibirsk State University. I graduated from the unique Novosibirsk State University Phys-Math School for talented children. I was also a research scholar at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in California. At present, I am a team lead on energy efficiency and climate finance at the Berlin-based Institute for Climate Protection, Energy, and Mobility (IKEM). I am also a partner at Bratislava-based AvantGarde Group heading its global operations. And, I am a guest professor at the department of Environmental Sciences and Policy of Central European University teaching energy and climate topics.

I co/author more than 70 publications, including book chapters, reports for the governments, academic papers, conference proceedings, and others. Among these, I have been a lead author of the 4th (2007) and the forthcoming 6th (2021) IPCC Assessment Report.
