Asiya Shervani advises organizations, collectives, communities and institutions on interpersonal ethics, equity, inclusion, rights and responsibilities. Asiya’s expertise lies in quasi legal investigations and conciliations in civil offences and ethical misconducts. She specializes in supporting fragmented, geographically dispersed workspaces, especially male-dominated organizations. She has played a key role in building diverse, gender-equal workplaces in diverse organizations and is leading the efforts to bring in substantive, effective and legally compliant solutions which enhance gender equity, talent transformation and people practices. She teaches courses on complex subjects like Leadership, Power, Ethics, Influence and examines the impact of everyday sexism, misogyny, powerplay and entitlement in work relationships and interactions. She supports unstructured workspaces, professionals and creative communities facilitate complex and nuanced conversations on gender, caste, class and social justice and help them envision a more equal future and design frameworks, methodologies, systems and mechanisms to achieve that.
Asiya is an advisor to several organizations on gender aspects including prevention and redressal of sexual harassment at workplace. She works with all levels of staff (backend as well as frontend staff) to help reorient their mindset on gender awareness. She has worked in creation as well as implementation of anti-sexual harassment policies and is a member of various committees which aim to resolve employee grievances. In addition to coaching senior executives, Asiya conducts interventions for all levels of staff, contractors, partners and stakeholders. She uses dialogue, debate and brainstorming as foundational tools to build collaboration, shared identity and engagement. Asiya has a fair, balanced and preventive approach towards sexual harassment. She is of the view that when people are aware of the law and are sensitized about the impact of sexual harassment, they are unlikely to be perpetrators.
