As my work on FILMLÖWIN is mostly unpaid voluntary work I unfortunately can only accept paid jobs at the moment.
I studied North American Studies, Latin American Studies and Psychology at FU Berlin and graduated with a a Master Thesis on the religious subtext of Science Fiction movies. In 2012, after a six month internship in the editorial team of Moviepilot.de, I started to work as a freelance film journalist and critic for several print and online outlets and at the same time completed a training for theatre pedagogy at VHS Neuköln (Community College). I also founded the movie blog filmosophie.com.
In my freelance writing, I started to get involved into the topic of Gender and film, writing respective columns for Moviepilot.com and kino-zeit.de. In 2014, I launched FILMLÖWIN which was the first German online magazine on feminism and movies. Based on my writing for FILMLÖWIN I started to give lectures and workshops on gender equality in film as well as the topic of blogging, participated in panel discussions as well as festival juries.
Since 2024 I'm a certified Diversity Trainer. I now focus on teaching at universities and film schools (like the Film University Konrad Wolf), Diversity Trainings as well as Sensitivity Reading and Diversity Counselling in the film and media industries. A topic that is especially important to me is the depiction of sexualised violence in movies and TV shows.

Film durch die feministische Brille - Willst Du wissen was die Matrix ist?
In ihrem Vortrag stellt die Journalistin und Filmkritikerin Sophie Charlotte Rieger eine Auswahl der Werkzeuge vor, mit denen sie für ihr feministisches Online-Filmmagazin Filmlöwin Kino- und Fernsehfilme analysiert. Was macht eine starke Frauenfigur aus? Wann ist ein Film „emanzipatorisch wertvoll“? Und warum sind diese Fragen überhaupt von Bedeutung?
Achtung vor Risiken und Nebenwirkungen: Die „feministische Brille“ kann unsere Sicht auf Film und Fernsehen, ja sogar die Welt maßgeblich verändern. Es ist wie mit der „Matrix“ der Wachowski-Schwestern: Nach der roten Pille der Erkenntnis gibt es kein Zurück mehr in die heile Welt des Unterhaltungskinos.
Im Zuge der Filmreihe FILMLÖWINkino im Jahr 2020, die ich gemeinsam mit meiner Kollegin Jana Gebhard und dem Team von FILMLÖWIN organisiert habe, moderierte ich unter anderem auch die Eröffnungsveranstaltung. Neben der Anmoderation übernahm ich auch das Gespräch mit unseren Gästen*innen Sookee und Tarik Tesfu über den Film "Rafiki", und Queerness in den Medien.
