Katharina Wenty

My main topics are feminism, climate protection and mental health. I write commissioned texts and perform them. I also moderate events and discussions and curate art festivals. In addition, I write poetic recordings, i.e. I attend congresses and conferences and summarize the content in the form of a slam text, which I then present as a kind of artistic review at the end of all inputs.

With performances in over 20 countries, Katharina Wenty is one of the most internationally successful slam poets in the German-speaking world. Katharina studied theater, film and media studies as well as multimedia in Vienna, where she grew up. As a filmmaker, she has already been part of several short film festivals, as well as a winner of the Media Literacy Award, the Zeit:impuls Short Film Award and many more. In 2018, she was Poetry Slam Champion for Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland and was a finalist at the European Poetry Slam Championships in Budapest. In 2023, she won the HUGO Award for new concert formats with her ensemble Lingua:Lyra as well as the Playground Competition and Diversity Award of the HfM Detmold. Katharina also organizes, moderates and curates various cultural events and festivals, including the Art Visuals & Poetry Film Festival at Künstlerhaus Wien.
