From Fashion to Compassion

I was born and raised in Berlin, Germany. From an early age, I had an affinity towards the fashion world and the magic and mystery that seemed to engulf it. This curiosity led me to pack up and leave my nest at the tender age of 18, to study fashion design at the Fashion institute of Technology in New York City. I was definitely not in Kansas any more…

It was during my studies in the City that Never Sleeps that I discovered, almost by what some may call “coincidence”, the Integral Yoga Institute founded by His Holiness Sri Swami Satchidanandaji Maharaj. Here I acquired a deep understanding and appreciation for the body, mind and spirit interconnectedness and how to silence the mind and nurture the body. This place had a strong influence me, and was the first step towards my journey into the world of integral medicine and naturopathy.

I continued my foray into the fashion world and quickly climbed the corporate ladder of NYC’s fast moving fashion industry, working for companies like GAP Inc., Abercrombie & Fitch and Tommy Hilfiger. While my career goals were undoubtedly being fulfilled, I maintained a thirst for all things related to the subject of holistic Health, and continued to follow my deep interest in the nature of the human body, mind and spirit.

Leading large fashion conglomerates creatively, I, indeed, was fulfilling myself professionally. And yet, it was then, when my yearning for the Yang to my Ying only intensified, pushing me to became a scholar of the arts of Yoga, Yoga therapy, Ayurveda, Traditional Chinese Medicine and other Alternative Healthcare Systems. I was spending any free time I had from the office reading books, attending classes and lectures, and practicing at home, volunteering at the local children hospice and women’s shelter delving deeper and deeper in to the material.

It was when I had finally arrived at the zenith of my fashion career, as Senior VP Global Creative Director of Nautica, that I realized that it was time to dedicate myself fully and wholeheartedly towards my true passion and - the exciting and adventurous field of Naturopathic and Holistic Medicine.

I decided to say goodbye to the Big Apple and return back home, to Berlin. Here, I became a board certified Naturopath, specializing in Holistic Acupuncture, TCM, Hospice care and Bodywork.

The worlds of Beauty and Creativity that were such integral parts of my daily fashion career have never left my side. I am very happy and thankful to be able to embrace both of these wonderful topics, combining ancient and indigenous wisdom with modern and alternative medical innovations to ensure well being and holistic beauty in all its forms.
