Cosima Meyer ist eine Data Scientist mit einem starken Fokus darauf, Machine-Learning-Modelle erklärbar und zugänglich zu machen. Mit ihrer Passion für vertrauenswürdige KI setzt sie sich dafür ein, Systeme zu entwickeln, die nicht nur technisch robust, sondern auch transparent und ethisch sind. Sie ist eine Google's Women Techmaker Ambassador und wurde von Business Insider als Zukunftsmacherin 2024 für ihre Beiträge zur Tech-Community ausgezeichnet.
Als Gründerin von R-Ladies Köln und aktives Mitglied von PyLadies setzt sich Cosima für die Förderung inklusiver und kollaborativer Gemeinschaften ein, arbeitet daran, die beiden Gruppen zu verbinden und Räume für Wissensaustausch und Wachstum zu schaffen. Sie hält regelmäßig Vorträge zu Themen wie Community-Building, Softwareentwicklung und Programmierung und teilt ihre Einblicke und Erfahrungen, um andere zu inspirieren.
Während ihrer Doktorarbeit an der Universität Mannheim entdeckte Cosima ihre Begeisterung für das Teilen von Wissen durch technische Blogbeiträge und die Entwicklung von Open-Source-Software. Ihre Arbeit spiegelt eine Kombination aus technischer Expertise und einer Leidenschaft für Community-Building wider und inspiriert andere dazu, sich mit erklärbarer KI und Data Science auseinanderzusetzen, zu lernen und beizutragen.

Text data provides an oasis of information for both researchers and non-researchers alike to explore. Natural Language Processing (NLP) methods help make sense of this difficult data type. The talk and code gave a smooth introduction to the quanteda package. I also showcased how to quickly visualize your text data and cover both supervised and unsupervised approaches in NLP. As part of the code demo, we used text data from the UN as a working example to give you first insights into the structure of text data and how to work with it.

Research produces fascinating findings. But it is often difficult to present them to a broader audience beyond the research paper. Shiny apps offer researchers (both in academia and business) sophisticated tools to generate web applications that make the results accessible, understandable, and interactive. The talk will guide you through the necessary steps to set up your own ShinyApp and discuss lessons learned from building a ShinyApp using Shiny for R, shinydashboards, and echarts4r.
